In the US, each county puts on a fair during the summer. The county fair is originally a place for agricultural displays and contests. Now the fairs still have display and contests of home arts, animals, produce, flowers, garden designs... etc. In addition, there are also commercial booths sell every imaginable products, carnival rides, talent shows and concerts.

Alameda Fair in Pleasanton is one of the major fairs in CA. Betty and I went in July; she had a lot of friends working in the small animal area and we went visit them. Allen was in charge of the small animal barns; I had seen the pictures of his traveling to different places on Betty's blog and was really happy to meet him in person; I had a picture taken with him.

We saw displays of pigs, sheep, cows, horse, ducks, chicks, peacocks, doves, rabbits, ... I was very impressed with the country life.
