It was an exciting trip to the Charles Schultz Museum. When I was younger, I was so much into his comic strips. Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are so much fun and they always make me laugh and think; they are deeper than what they show on the surface.

I had never imagine that I would go to a museum exhibiting the Peanuts gang and got the chance to view the lifelong work of Charles Schultz. I am so glad that I went and I enjoyed it very much.

If you ever are not too far away from Santa Rosa, CA, you really should go.

In the US, each county puts on a fair during the summer. The county fair is originally a place for agricultural displays and contests. Now the fairs still have display and contests of home arts, animals, produce, flowers, garden designs... etc. In addition, there are also commercial booths sell every imaginable products, carnival rides, talent shows and concerts.

Alameda Fair in Pleasanton is one of the major fairs in CA. Betty and I went in July; she had a lot of friends working in the small animal area and we went visit them. Allen was in charge of the small animal barns; I had seen the pictures of his traveling to different places on Betty's blog and was really happy to meet him in person; I had a picture taken with him.

We saw displays of pigs, sheep, cows, horse, ducks, chicks, peacocks, doves, rabbits, ... I was very impressed with the country life.

Betty invited me to tag along to a rabbit show with her in early July.

Her friend Carol invited three clubs to put on shows in her backyard and have a potluck lunch. Carol has a very nice backyard, has a swimming pool, a tennis court, lots of shade trees and even an independent guesthouse. Carol's husband Jim did BBQ and made hamburger for all. There were a lot of food and they were delicious.

I met Charlie and Casey who also raise English Angora rabbits, just like Betty, many years ago. I had not seen them for a while and it was nice to see them again in that show. All the participants were busy grooming their rabbits; I finally had a chance to see how they use blowers to help the grooming. I also learn some of the rules of showing.

In the afternoon, some of the kids and teenagers went into the pool to relax and have fun. I wish I could go in but I did not.

It was a fun day.

I went to the US to visit John, Sandy and Melissa. It's such a joy to see my son having a wonderful family and given me my first grand daughter. I stay for six weeks from June to July.My best friend Betty visited me three times and we went to different places. The first trip was in June; I accompanied her to a feed store 120 miles away to get the brand of rabbit food that her rabbits like. I am posting four of the pictures during the first part of our trip.
We first stopped at Golden Gate bridge tourist area, and then drove down to the recreational area. I was so surprised to find a hotel with restaurant almost under the bridge. Then we continued our way to the huge feed store that sold animal feed, hay, supplies and even little baby chicks and ducklings. From this trip, I realized how much effort that Betty had put into her rabbit hobby. It takes enthusiasm, patience and persistence to elevate her rabbits to the top of the show circuit.
